Verified compliance and training, before the first shift.
A worker completes self-registration, signs mandatory compliance paperwork, and takes a scored training course, with progress tracked automatically. Configure the activation gate to block scheduling until required courses are passed.

Training
Scored, not just watched
Wizard runs in English or Spanish, candidate's choice.
Personal, skill, employment, education and reference details are entered once, by the candidate, not re-keyed by an admin.
ACA coverage waiver and a per-item, initialed policy acknowledgement checklist: At-Will Employment, EEO, Harassment, Union-Free, FMLA, Workers' Comp and related policies.
A real per-employee document repository: Resume, Video, Background Check, LinkedIn, Portfolio/GitHub, I-9, W-4, EDD and Sexual Harassment training, each with its own upload and a stored, timestamped record of who added it.
A five-stage course flow: three modules, then a quiz, then results. A 5% minimum watch-progress gate unlocks the quiz.
An eleven-question knowledge assessment, scored against the 75% pass mark shown to the learner directly.
Step-by-Step Candidate Registration Pipeline
Public self-registration
A candidate starts from an open registration page, not an invite: first and last name, phone, email, password, a home-location dropdown and birth date, with the English/Spanish toggle already on screen.
Personal & background
Full name, an emergency contact and school or education history, each its own step in the wizard rather than one long form.
Employment history
Whether currently employed, any prior names, and discharge or resignation history, followed by a repeatable employer block, employer, address, phone, type of business, supervisor, position, employment dates and reason for leaving, that repeats for every employer a candidate lists.
Sign-off
Photo capture, a preferred-language selection, and initial-plus-signature pads with pen-color choice and a clear button, closing the wizard before the compliance and training steps.
Granular Compliance & Document Audit Tracking
Disclaimer & ACA
A Candidate Disclaimer and Acknowledgement, covering at-will employment and a perjury declaration, is captured with name, signature and date. The ACA offer of minimum essential coverage and its waiver are signed the same way, with the 30-day post-qualifying-event enrollment window spelled out in the text itself.
Twelve policies, twelve initials
Each item on the acknowledgement checklist, At-Will Employment, EEO, Harassment, Union-Free, Workforce Reduction, Benefits, FMLA, Sick Leave, Substance Abuse, Workers' Comp, Injury & Incident Reporting and Rest & Meal Breaks, is initialed on its own screen. A worker who has initialed nine of twelve shows exactly which three remain, not one blanket flag against the whole handbook.
General safety quiz
A True/False safety-knowledge quiz runs inside onboarding itself, separate from the job-specific safety questions a worker answers later in the field.
What the admin-side record actually holds
Alongside the document repository, each candidate's attachments carry the signed paperwork itself: Terms, COVID form, Vaccination details, Background check, Background check acknowledgement, I-9, with the background-check acknowledgement able to hold more than one file where a candidate submits it more than once.
Attempt Tracking, and a Scored Course
Inside OnBoard: a quick attempt tracker
A candidate's own profile carries a lightweight List of Trainings tab: entries such as Safety Training and Sexual Harassment Training (Non-Supervisor / Supervisor), each showing a status badge and an Attempt button that opens a short video plus a True/False quiz.
The scored course: dashboard and modules
The full knowledge-assessment course covered above runs from its own dashboard: a Courses Completed tile and a Training Progress card listing each required course, complete or pending, before a worker opens the three-module, quiz-and-results flow.
Training and compliance documents, in the same system as the rest of it.
Across the nine suite-peer platforms researched for comparison, a training LMS with a scored assessment ships natively in most of them, but not all: Darwinbox runs its LMS through a third party, and SAP SuccessFactors and Zoho both sell theirs as a separately licensed module. Native, in-app document generation with e-signature, as distinct from uploaded document storage, splits the field further: Odoo requires a separately licensed module, Zoho sells e-signature as its own product, and Workday routes I-9 specifically through a third-party marketplace partner even though its W-4 flow is native. Hirebase ships both natively, in the same login as scheduling and payroll — the same login a retail operator backfilling a departure this week uses to get a new hire trained fast enough to cover the shift.
Configurable Training Gate for Activation
Training and certification status is tracked per worker automatically. Where a deployment enables it, the training course has to be passed before activation, a configured gate in the workflow rather than a policy someone has to remember to enforce — the same gate a healthcare facility can turn on to hold a worker out of scheduling until a required course clears.
